The Quebec Biotechnology Innovation Centre (QBIC) has proven itself as a leading model for assisting start-up businesses involved the field of biotechnology research and development.  QBIC has garnering international awards and recognition for its work.  In 2002, it received the prestigious Randall M. Whaley Incubator of the Year Award, an international prize presented by the US-based National Business Incubation Association.

In 2003, the Centre relocated into the new Laval Biotechnology Development Centre, a 128,000 square foot facility located north of Montreal.  QBIC’s clients have access to laboratories, suite, technical and business advisory services.  QBIC’s facilities are accessible day and night, with security assured by a personalized card-access system and camera surveillance. Laboratory infrastructure meets exacting standards for air and water quality, as well as ensuring a low rate of vibration, essential for biotech research activities.  Once they graduate, they have the option of renting adjacent commercial space thereby further strengthening the cluster of biotechnology companies located in Laval.
